Linjett 34
Small becomes large
Launched in 2011, The Linjett 34 is the smallest in the Linjett line-up, however relative to other models and its own size, it has the largest sail area. Designed by Mats Gustafsson – who carved the beautiful shapes of this yacht – it is slightly wider and taller than its predecessor (Linjett 33), which enhances the volume and storage, plus allowing more natural light into the yacht. Suited for sailing in the Swedish archipelago thanks to its narrow waterline which makes the hull cut through the water, this yacht is built to be easily sailed by two people, regardless of whether you choose to get her with a tiller or wheel.

Exterior
Linjett 34 has a larger sail area relative to its sister yachts, Linjett 37 and Linjett 43. The hull shape is wider aft and with a slightly straighter bow than its predecessor Linjett 33, but it is still narrow in the water line which makes her quick. The hull and deck are built to be stiff and all the bulkheads are laminated. The composite has directed fibres with a Divinycell sandwich core, a combination that creates a rigid but light hull. High beams together with a keel pocket makes the hull stiff enough to handle grounding better than most yachts and supports the rig when tightened in heavy weather. Sheets, halyard and tuning lines all run smoothly under the deck and come out by two winches in the cockpit, close enough that the helmsman can reach all of them while driving. At the same time, this gives a tidier and more secure cockpit space for the crew.

Interior
The handcrafted interior finish is just one of a Linjett yacht’s most renowned features, and the craftsmanship of the carpentry and the beautiful woodwork of each boat is what makes the name so sought-after. In the Linjett 34, this becomes more admirable when this skill is used to create good stowage spaces. The first feeling you get when entering the saloon is determined by volume and light, which falls onto the finer details and helps you take in the design. It is notable that the sailboat is built by experienced professionals who know the features required for an interior during heavy weather.

Rig & Sails
Like the other Linjett yachts, the Linjett 34 has a 9/10 rig in aluminium from Seldén. The main sail traveller is located on the cabin top, out of the way from the cockpit, and the sheet is run aft to the helmsman. Double swept spreaders guarantee that the rig stands firmly without the support of the backstay. Trimming of the backstay is efficiently done by the push pit.
The yacht comes as standard with a self-tacking jib. You can choose a 110% overlapping genoa, which can be furled in and become an effective self-tacking jib without losing the sail in shape or rigidity. This makes the yacht easily managed double handed, and with a family on board it allows the helmsman to singlehandedly and easily take all responsibility for the sailing.
